BLWAC Responsibilities
Create recommendations about wildlife management and present them to the City Council for consideration.
Be the city’s representative to collect facts on deer (wildlife) developments and implications from various agencies/organizations.
Coordinate with the Piedmont Land Trust.
To advise, coordinate and recommend steps to protect natural environment.
To coordinate all communication to Berkeley Lake residents concerning deer and other wildlife.
To educate the community on positive and challenging aspects of our ecosystem.
To continue Berkeley Lake’s long history of managing and protecting our natural resources, expand community awareness and engage residents’ support.
To provide residents with needed information on a public site, and the Mayor’s periodic message:
Educational materials
City ordinances on hunting
Permission/waiver forms for bow hunting
FAQ’s
Educational information
Shared info from adjacent cities on deer management
Data, research and survey tools
Coordinate and interface with state agencies (DNR, USDA) for information and resources to assist the community.
